freeze

Installation, Urban Arts Space, The Ohio State University – August, 2022.

Sandy dirt from the heartland of Florida was wedged into porcelain, then rolled and pulled into straight fronds. These fronds were assembled in upright clumps and placed in a kiln, then allowed to sag and swirl during the firing.

Both overheating and freezing, this process captures the effect of slight shifts in temperature on a landscape.
