dirt + porcelain, sand, glaze

22ft x 15ft x 2ft

Sandy dirt from the heartland of Florida wedged into porcelain, then rolled and pulled into straight fronds.

These fronds were assembled in upright clumps and placed in a kiln, then allowed to sag and swirl during the firing.

Both overheating and freezing, this process captures the effect of slight shifts in temperature on a landscape.
