waterline

dirt + porcelain, sand, rust, salt

10ft x 12ft x 1ft

Tides continue to rise and storms intensify. Each year the waterline reaches new heights as the subtle shift in heat transforms our planet. This installation was created soon after hurricane Ian turned my hometown,  Fort Myers, Florida, into a disaster.

Dirt dug up from my family's property, worms and sticks weeded out, worked together and stretched between my fingertips- these pieces hold the memory of their material, making, and their metamorphosis in the kiln. Afterward, soaked and stained with rust and salt.
